Ellen Kaplan, M.Ed. serves as the Learning Specialist and Disability Coordinator for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore where she works with pre-clinical and clinical medical school students to support their accommodation needs as well as provide learning strategies.
Ms. Kaplan received her bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the University of Hartford and her master’s degree in Reading Education from Towson University. Her drive to become a special education teacher and help others came from her own struggles with dyslexia. Through her own personal experience incorporating strategies to accommodate her dyslexia, Ms. Kaplan possesses the innate ability to relate and share her personal journey with students to help them perform and guide them to achieve their optimal performance.
Ms. Kaplan has completed several courses on executive function education and has provided professional training and workshops at area public and private schools, as well as at the college level, including several on how to work with students that have ADHD and other disabilities.
