Amber Murphy, M.A. is the SDS Assistant Director for Communication Access (University-Wide). With 13 + years of related experience, Amber has worked in many disability agencies. She has experience in Inclusion Services, Deaf Employment Specialty, Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Planning, Sign Language Interpreting, and being a Disability Specialist.
Amber Murphy is a native of Maryland – She became interested in and passionate about the Deaf Culture/Community while attending Eleanor Roosevelt High School and began taking American Sign Language courses. Amber earned her B.S. in Deaf Studies and Speech Pathology/Audiology at Towson University. She is fluent in American Sign Language and has used that skill throughout her work and time in the disability field. Amber later earned her M.A. Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Amber specializes in working with the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing population and also has experience and enjoys working with individuals across numerous varied populations and identities. Her passions within this field include effective communication, access, equitable/gainful employment, Universal Design, and inclusive modeling. Outside of work, Amber enjoys art and fun activities with her family.
